The Doctor Honoris Causa is awarded by universities to persons of particular merit in the field of science and culture. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 22, 2021.

Prof. Adam Hamrol was born on December 4, 1952, in Wolsztyn. In the years 1971-1976, he studied Mechanics and Machine Building at the Poznan University of Technology. He graduates in applied mechanics. From the beginning of his professional career, he was closely associated with the Poznan University of Technology where he obtained the doctoral degree (1982), postdoctoral degree (1991), and title of professor of technical sciences in 1999.

Prof. Hamrol completed research and teaching internships, among others in Ireland, Italy, Great Britain and Germany. He was the Vice- Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Management at the Poznan University of Technology. In the years 1999-2005, he was the Dean of this faculty.

In 2005-2012, he was the rector of the Poznan University of Technology. During the second term of office, he was also the Vice-President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland. In the period 2012-2020, he was the head of the Department of Management and Production Engineering. Currently, prof. Hamrol is the head of postgraduate studies in the field of management and production engineering.

The main areas of the professor's scientific interests are related to the supervision of manufacturing processes, production engineering and especially quality engineering, application of virtual reality technologies and rapid prototyping in these areas. He promoted 16 doctoral students. He was a leader or the contractor of 25 projects financed by KBN, NCBiR, European funds, and industrial enterprises. He is the co-author of nearly 300 scientific publications, 70 of which were published in scientific and technical journals with global reach.

He published more than a dozen books and textbooks. He is the laureate of the Polish Quality Award, the individual award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the award of the Hipolit Cegielski Society. He was also awarded Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.

The professor's interest in machining issues contributed to the tightening cooperation with the Cracow University of Technology in the 1980s. The cooperation continues to this day and is related primarily to activities in the field of quality engineering, production management, metrology and research on cyber-physical models of processes for the idea of ​​Industry 4.0.

Prof. Adam Hamrol played a significant role in supporting the applications of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Cracow University of Technology for the first doctoral and postdoctoral qualifications in the country in the field of production engineering.
